4 BLADED POWER: THE VARIPROP "BLUE WATER"
with all the advantages of her 2 & 3 bladed sisters the 4 bladed Variprop has a lot to offer.
Especially in blue water conditions, excessive blade loading causes cavitational noises, bubbles on blades and resulting loss of power, just when you need it most in the trough. The solution is the VARIPROP, to-date worlds most modern 4-blade feathering propeller, with 30% larger blade areas, less blade loading, much greater thrust and undiminished power.
A smaller diameter fits where others cannot. Fit a 4 blade VARIPROP.

WHY FOUR BLADES?
In light conditions, the perfomance of an ideally optimized 3 blade and a typical 4 blade VARIPROP will be very similar. BUT: in really heavy going, or when motorsailing or powering in heavy seas and strong headwinds - the 4 blade model with its much greater blade area will produce more thrust and boat speed - and therefore better controllability and safety - without losing efficiency.
FOR "PROBLEM" BOATS: Often it's not possible to fit the correct 3 blade propeller because:
- Diameter of the propeller is restricted by the boat structure.
- Engine power is too high for a 3 blade propeller of the diameter that will fit.
- Shaft RPM is too high (low gear ratio).
If a 3 blade propeller (fixed, feathering or folding) is fitted, the result will be poor thrust, cavitation, noise, vibration, and low efficiency - because of excessively high blade loading. Simply increasing the pitch of a 3 bladed propeller will not solve these problems, but only makes things worse. So many owners have just given up. So they run at lower engine RPM and boat speed and are resigned to it. A lot of good boats have dismally inefficient propellers. Their owners haven't realized that there's something they can do about it.
SOLUTION: Fit a 4-blade VARIPROP "Blue Water".
